Remotely Control Any Computer Using Google Chrome

At times you may need to have the access of a remote system or authorize somebody to have access to your computer remotely. Cause you need to transfer some important documents at your office which are at your home Computer. A simple email from your home desktop could solve your problem. But the person at home is not a computer literate and can’t help you out in this situation by sending it as an email. It will be better if have remote desktop software at your home computer and you just asked the person at home on phone to put the computer on, connect the internet and to start the remote desktop connection. The remaining task will be carried out by you.

The remote desktop connection is also useful when you need to assist a somebody remotely who is not a computer literate. It saves your time and avoids describing things performed at your own machine through phone calls or emails.

The Chrome remote desktop extension is platform independent utility that allow users to have access to  other computers over the internet using a secured and one-time authentication code.  The remote desktop connection can be established using the Google Chrome browser as well as the Chromebook.

Steps to Start Google Chrome remote desktop Extension

• Download and install Google Chrome browser on your computer, install the extension by visiting this (link here).
• Once you have installed the extension, sign-in with your Gmail account or any other Google account and “grant extended access permission to your computer” by clicking the “Continue” button.

• Press the “Allow access” button at the very next page.

• You will be given two options. You can share your computer with the partner from the other end or access the computer of your remote partner.

To let your partner to get access to your System i.e to turn your computer into a host computer click “Share This Computer” button and the software will be launched in a new browser tab. It will give an access code by which your partner(s) can connect to your computer.

If you need your friend to have control of your computer, send the code through to him/her by text or any other means but make sure you do not keep the code in public (like in social network). The code is valid only for the current session. If the session is disconnected, you will need to generate another new code for giving access of your computer to somebody.

Now, you partner can reach your computer by hitting the “access a shared computer” link and entering the access code. Once connected, your friend sees your desktop in a new browser tab.

Though this app works via the Chrome browser but everything of the host system can be accessed from the remote computer. You can delete or create any file or folder, launch any software even you can remotely shut down the host system.

Note: Shutting down the host computer will be disconnect the connection and you will have to reconnect it again.

The difference between this and others is that it is simple, easy to use and requires one time installation without having any hassle of settings.
